Bude Bay Surf School
Bude Bay Surf School was founded by international professional surfer and British Surf Champion Miles Lee-Hargreaves with a single ambition — to share his lifelong passion for surfing with as many people as possible and help them experience the joy of riding waves for themselves. Operating from Crooklets Beach in the heart of one of the UK's most celebrated surf destinations, the school offers access to both Crooklets and Summerleaze beaches, ensuring every student benefits from the very best and safest conditions available on any given day. From complete beginners stepping onto a surfboard for the very first time to intermediate and advanced surfers looking to elevate their game, Bude Surf School offers a comprehensive range of lesson formats to suit every age, ability, and occasion. Whether you're booking a private one-to-one session for focused personal progression, joining a group surf lesson for a sociable introduction to the sport, organising a private group experience for a celebration or corporate day out, bringing the whole family together for a shared adventure on the water, or enrolling your child in the hugely popular Salty Groms Holiday Surf Camp, every experience is delivered with the same hallmark commitment to quality, safety, and genuine progression. With a strict maximum ratio of one instructor to every four students across all lessons, every student — young or old, nervous or eager — receives the attention, encouragement, and expert coaching they need to make real progress in the water and leave with a smile on their face.
Founded by Miles Lee-Hargreaves
Miles' love affair with the ocean began at the age of just seven, when he first discovered surfing on the beaches of North Cornwall. His natural talent and fierce dedication to the sport were evident from the very beginning — by the age of ten he was already competing on the UK Pro Surf Tour, and by twelve he had secured his first professional sponsorship deal. Throughout his teenage years Miles dominated the domestic competitive circuit, winning British Junior Surfing Championships and multiple British Schools surfing titles before reaching one of the proudest moments of his career at the age of seventeen, when he was appointed captain of the British Junior Surfing Team for the World Championships. Over the years that followed, Miles competed at the highest level of the sport in locations across the globe, accumulating a wealth of experience, knowledge, and a deep understanding of what it takes to become a truly accomplished surfer. Today, Miles channels everything he has learned from over a decade of world-class competitive surfing into his greatest passion — helping others discover and develop their love of the sport. Whether he is introducing a complete beginner to their very first wave or coaching an experienced surfer to refine their technique, Miles brings the same enthusiasm, expertise, and commitment to every single lesson. As a qualified lifeguard and holder of the ISA Surf Coach Qualification, he combines elite competitive pedigree with the professional credentials and safety awareness to create a surf school that is as safe as it is inspiring.
