We advise arriving 10 minutes early to allow time to get kitted up before the surf lesson.
Before you can attempt the extreme surfing that everybody loves, Miles will teach you the basics and then the surf lesson will include:

Sea and Beach Safety briefing
Warm up
Wave timings and catching a wave
Learn the pop up (standing up)
Board handling and terminology
Safe entry into the sea

The Surfing Experience
Our family surf lessons are specifically designed to accommodate mixed ages and mixed abilities, making them the perfect activity for families visiting Bude and Cornwall who want to do something truly memorable together. Available for groups of two or more — whether that's a couple with young children, a multigenerational family group, or a larger gathering of relatives all keen to give surfing a go — our sessions are flexible enough to fit around your holiday schedule and scale to suit your group size. For every four surfers in your group, a dedicated instructor is assigned, meaning that whether you come as a group of two or a group of twelve, that personal 1:4 ratio is always maintained and nobody ever gets lost in the crowd. Led by international professional surfer and British Surf Champion Miles Lee-Hargreaves, every family lesson is tailored to ensure every member of the family — regardless of age or ability — is included, supported, and having the time of their life. It's the kind of shared experience that goes far beyond a typical holiday activity — the kind your family will be talking about for years to come.

Based at Crooklets Beach in Bude, we have access to two of Cornwall's best surf beaches, allowing us to find the safest and most suitable conditions for families of all ages on the day. One of the real strengths of our family surf lessons is their flexibility — sessions can be arranged to fit into your schedule rather than the other way around, making it easy to plan around other holiday commitments. Safety is always our highest priority, and our experienced instructors are trained to create a reassuring and supportive environment so that even the most nervous family members feel comfortable and confident in the water. All surf equipment is provided as standard, so there's nothing to organise ahead of your lesson beyond turning up ready for an adventure.
